Amelia River & Fernandina Beach Kayak Tour

Our Downtown Fernandina Beach & Amelia River Kayak Tour explores Amelia Island’s harbor’s rich maritime history and aquatic life. On the Amelia River your kayak tour will provide you with an intimate nature experience. You will be eye level to playful dolphins and gentle manatees as squadrons of brown pelicans glide above the water’s surface. The birthplace of the modern shrimping industry, Fernandina’s harbor is still home to a fleet of shrimp boats, along with sunken sailing vessels.

As you kayak down the river on the Downtown Fernandina Beach & Amelia River Kayak Tour you will have a good view of Tiger Island. Tiger Island boasts a safe and deserted white sandy beach,  a nice place to pull up a kayak and have a snack while hearing more about the history of this mysterious island.

The original site of the town of Fernandina Beach, Old Towne, sits at the far north end of Amelia Island, inhabited by the Timucua Indians long before the Europeans made land here.

Platted by the Spanish in 1811, the Plaza San Carlos is highly visible from the waterway, along with what is known as “The Pippi House” where a movie of the dearly loved story was made back in the 1980s.

Dophin, manatee, birds and history are what the Fernandina Beach Amelia River Kayak Tour is all about!

Two Great Kayak Trips on Amelia Island!

My 9 year old daughter and I went kayaking with Amelia Adventures last week, not once, but twice . Thomas and Catherine were two of the nicest people that we have ever met. The two kayak trips with Amelia Adventures were the highlight of our trip. Our first trip was in the Amelia River where we kayaked from the Fernandina Harbor Marina and got close to dolphins, local birds, old shrimp boats, and a stop on a beach on Tiger Island. On our second trip we kayaked near Fort Clinch and kayaked to the south side of Cumberland Island. We were the only ones on the Cumberland Island beach where we found several conch shells and saw wild horses. Thomas and Catherine gave us helpful advice on kayaking (understanding the current and the winds) and explained the waterways (rivers and ocean waters), wildlife, and local buildings. On top of all of this, Thomas took great professional quality photos of us and shared these photos with us. The next time we are in Amelia Island we will definitely look to book another trip with Amelia Adventures.

From my daughter – You should also go to Amelia Adventures because it is really fun to do with your kids or yourself. My dad and I rate Amelia Adventures 5 Shiny Gold stars!*****

Amelia River Wildlife!

My wife and I had an excellent time on our tour. Our Guide was very professional and helpful (gave us a quick lesson before hand) and made us feel at ease (it was my wife’s first kayak trip). We had a great time as we saw a lot of wildlife (manatees, dolphins, and crabs). Along with all the pictures they took, it was a very enjoyable time. Highly recommended Amelia Adventures!
